Our volunteers are crucial to restoring the building, delivering events and are the backbone of our organisation. Across all of our museums, these passionate, skilled and enthusiastic individuals enable us to extend our work to cherish, protect and share our places and stories.
Volunteers contribute their time, expertise and energy to the benefit and success of our organisation. There are many ways to get involved including front of house staff, tour guides, builders, administration and marketing.
All volunteer roles are flexible and work around your interests, skills and availability. Whether you can make a regular weekly commitment or prefer to help out every now and again, we welcome and value your involvement.

Event volunteers provide support with logistics to help the event run smoothly, welcome visitors, and support the running of activities. So in this role, you need to be flexible, enjoy working with a variety of people of different ages and backgrounds, and be ready to step in and help wherever needed.

Many hands make light work and sometimes we need some help to get stuck in and to get things done. Whether it’s painting or helping to get the cinema ready for a big event. It can be physical but we can promise you will see the difference before your eyes.

The committee is the engine room of the organisation, meeting regularly to progress projects and decide the operational and strategic direction. If you want to regularly contribute your time to any aspect of our work, big or small, broad or specific, the committee will find a place to work with you and make things happen. Committee meetings are open to all members to attend.

Our volunteer researchers are treasure hunters. They explore the history of the theatre and all that has happened there. This role will require critical thinking, attention to detail, recording findings and working independently. You will need to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other volunteers, committee and community members and may need to visit libraries and historical institutions.
